Abstract:
There is no doubt that the intraoral scanner is the stepping stone to an efficient digital workflow. This allows us, as practitioners, to provide more accurate information to the lab, leading to a higher quality and more time-efficient treatment. But it can be taken a step further. By selectively adding CBCT images or using stereo photogrammetry, digital color determination, jaw motion analysis, or a face scan, the dental lab can even create a virtual patient. In this presentation I want to show you how a face scan objectively contributes to the design of a full implant bridge.

Contributors to this series unanimously endorse digital denture production for reduced chair time, fewer appointments, and consistent restoration quality, design, and fit.

Professor, Director

Dr. Ziad Salameh earned his Doctor in Dental Surgery and Master in Prosthodontics from St. Joseph University, Beirut. He later obtained a Master and PhD in Dental Biomaterials from Siena University, Italy. Dr. Salameh has expertise in CAD/CAM, 3D printing, and dental biomaterials like fiber posts and ceramics. He has published widely and is an international lecturer. Currently, he is a Professor and Research Center Director at the Lebanese University and a Visiting Professor at Siena University.

With over 24 years at 3Shape, currently serving as VP of Product Strategy and Business Unit Director for Dental Lab and Dental Clinic. Key roles include VP of Product Strategy (15+ years) and Manager of 3D Scanners (8+ years), where I built 3Shape’s scanner development from the ground up to become a global market leader. Education includes a Ph.D. and M.Sc. in Computer Science and Mathematics from the Technical University of Denmark, as well as an Executive MBA from Copenhagen Business School.

Dentist, Scientific consultant & author

Dr. Jordi Manauta was born in Mexico City, where he graduated cum laude. in dentistry from UNITEC (Universidad Tecnológica de México) and apprentice of Dr. Miguel Angel Tamés (Mexico) and Dr. Walter Devoto (Italy). He continued his postgraduate studies in Operative and Aesthetics Dentistry Master in UIC (Universitat Internacional de Catalunya) in Barcelona. He is visiting professor in the Siena and Marseille University.

He has developed various materials and instruments for aesthetic dentistry and photography in collaboration with international companies. He is the author of the book Layers (quintessence 2012). Scientific consultant for two European Journals. Author and co-author of many publications in international journals, he is frequently invited as a lecturer on these topics. He is dedicated to his private practice.

Jasper is a sought-after speaker for international meetings and symposia and is a trainer at several post-graduate restorative dentistry courses. In addition to his work at the chair, he writes articles for dental journals and is involved in several respected dental firms as a key opinion leader.

Jasper is also one of the founders of the online education platform Karma.Dentistry.

Dr. Gary Finelle earned his Dental Surgery degree from the University of Paris 7 in 2009 and completed a specialization in Oral Implantology at Harvard School of Dental Medicine (2011-2013). He focuses on surgical and prosthetic implantology, with a special interest in digital tools for implant treatments and dental aesthetics.

Since 2013, alongside his private practice, he has been active in research and training on immediate implantation protocols and technology integration. Dr. Finelle has published around 30 scientific articles and frequently lectures at conferences and training programs worldwide. He is also a visiting professor at Harvard School‘s implantology program.
